Samsung Galaxy S IV mini in the making, Project J includes multiple devices: Report

Looks like Samsung is being really
ambitious this year. The Korean
electronics giant already has a bevy of
devices that it plans to launch and now
the latest addition to that list could be a
Samsung Galaxy S IV mini and an Apple
iWatch competitor.
Samsung focussed blog SamMobile
reports that the company's Project J
includes more than just the Samsung
Galaxy S IV, which was later codenamed
'Altius' and is expected to be announced
on March 15. The blog clearly indicates
that the information it was tipped
regarding upcoming devices is solely
based on the accessories of the Project
line.
One of these devices is the Project J Mini
codenamed Serrano, which hints at
nothing but the Galaxy S IV mini itself.
Judging by the accessories, Samsung
would find it logical to repeat what it did
with the Galaxy S III mini, releasing the
device as a miniature version of the
Galaxy S III. Going by that logic, the
Galaxy S IV mini could be seen with a 4-
inch HD display. However, it seems
unlikely that the smartphone should
support wireless charging.
The third device in the Project J lineup is
rather interesting going by the
accessories again. Project J Active
codenamed Fortius, is likely to come with
an arm band, will have the ability to bike
mount and will come with a pouch as
well. Could this be "Samsung's answer to
Apple's rumoured iWatch?" We'll have to
wait this one out.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S III mini in
October last year at a special event in
Germany. However, the smartphone is
yet to see an official word on pricing and
availability in many markets across the
world, including India. Samsung India is
scheduled to hold a press event on
February 14 in New Delhi and we're
hoping to see the Galaxy S III mini make
an appearance at its best.
A quick specs reminder for those
unaware, the Samsung Galaxy S III mini is
powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor
and features a 5-megapixel camera. It
has a 1500 mAh battery and 8/16GB
internal storage options. It inherits Galaxy
S III's features like S Voice, Smart Stay,
Direct Call and S Beam.
In December last year, the device was
reportedly shipping with the latest
version of Android Jelly Bean, v4.1.2 in
Vietnam and Indonesia. Other Asian
regions are still hoping for some good
news. The device is expected to launch in
3 new colours namely Titan Gray, Garnet
Red and Onyx Black. Earlier last month, it
was spotted donning these very same
colours.
