Huawei Ascend Mate up for China pre-orders at $575

Huawei made a big splash at the
Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2013
with its large screen smartphones -
Huawei Ascent Mate and Ascend D2.
However, then the company had not
announced the pricing details or
availability for these smartphones.
Now Unwiredview has spotted that
Huawei Ascend Mate is up for pre-orders
on a Chinese website. The price for the
device is listed as $575. The website is
also taking international deliveries but the
device seems to be available only in white
colour. The site also mentions that it will
start dispatching all order received before
February 5, 2013 by February 17, 2013.
Prior to the launch of this smartphone
Chinese website Sina Weibo, had
predicted that Ascend Mate will be priced
under CNY 3,000, which translates to
roughly $480. However, if the current
pre-order price is anything to go by then
it seems that Ascend Mate is $100
costlier than what people had expected.
Just to recap, Huawei Ascend Mate sports
a 6.1-inch IPS LCD display with a
resolution of 1280x720 pixels. It runs on
quad-core 1.5GHz processor with 2GB of
RAM and a 4,050 mAh battery. The
smartphone runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly
Bean). It has 8-megapixel autofocus
shooter at the rear and a 1-megapixel
front camera for video chat.
Now with Huawei Ascend Mate getting a
price tag, one can hope that Ascend D2
follows suit.
